Today is "Good Friday" - the day Jesus was tried and crucified. I am name derived from the phrase "God's Friday." And whether you are religious or not it is observed is a bank or public holiday in the UK, in the run-up to Easter. This is a long-weekend for us here, because not only do we observe Good Friday, but we then also have a very strong Easter Sunday (I say strong because nearly all the stores are closed on Easter) and then Monday is another public holiday, (I think just for the sake of it). So Thursday was crazy with everyone rushing to get out of town to visit family in other parts of country.
In our family the tradtion is that we only eat fish today. We have salt fish fritters in the morning, with "bakes" which is similar to a fried dumpling, and then for dinner we have fish of some kind with potatoes, rice and traditional west-indian food. Today is a family day. I am going to 2 sets of cousins this evening for food, fun, games and dancing.
Why am I sharing this? Well just because I know most of our readers are in the US and I just wanted to share what this time of year is like for me. It is family time, and I loooovvvve family times!!!! So here is some Wikipedia information on Good Friday, it it interests you at all, and it was the only information that I could find that was an unbiased non-religious outline.
And a Happy Easter to you all!!
