I am not sure about the purpose of this article, but I just wanted to talk about the strength of negative or positive mindsets.
I interviewed with a client recently who wanted someone to manage her radio show and social networks. She said to me more than once in the interview that these avenues “do not make money for me” and that if she spent time doing them she would have to allot herself time in her schedule as if she was her own client, and “she wasn’t prepared to do that.” Now I am not saying that either of these statements are wrong, but it is the approach and the mindset that sounds off.
For instance social networking activities are supposed to eventually increase revenue, so although they don’t make money now it is an investment that reaps rewards down the line. Maybe she was partly thinking that, which is why she wanted a VA, but that is not what she said! Also I agree that she should not be doing this work because she should be working with her clients, but to say that she is “not prepared to treat herself as a client,” again illustrates that she is in the wrong mindset.
I remember coming away from this conversation thinking that she would struggle to get success with her social networking because of her mindset and subsequent energy that she was putting towards it. I would confidently say that her mindset needs to change, wouldn’t you?
My daughter is another classic example. At the tender age of 20, and really trying to think in a positive way, I always hear her saying that it is more difficult for her to be successful in dance, her chosen profession and love, because of her skin colour, and the fact that she is female. I tell her all the time that if she thinks so, then so it will be. She does get what I say, but still I hear her muttering negative words. And guess what, traversing the dance industry is difficult for her. Don’t you agree that she has lots more work to do on her mindset?
Then there is me, who only thought I could do project work with my clients and therefore that is what I experienced. When this began to frustrate me I took a leap of faith and decided to try out that Law of Attraction thing. I changed my mindset to believe that there were clients out there who wanted more and that they would want to work with me and, low and behold, that is the kind of client base that I have. So now I want to move onto the next phase, to attract deeper more involved relationships with my existing clients (preferred option), or new clients (if necessary). And again so it transpires that my present clients are evolving. Our relationships are becoming deeper, and my involvement is becoming more. I honestly believe that with a confident/positive/unwavering mindset focused on this growth in my business, it has already started to reveal itself.
I don’t want to make it sound like I have got this mindset thing sussed out. Absolutely not! Doubt, pessimism, negativity are strong and frequent visitors. But keeping them at bay is part of what keeps your mind strong. A bit like a workout, don’t you agree?

You couldn't have posted this on a better day. It helps so much for me to keep reminding myself to go positive. At my FT outside job my co-workers keep pushing me down and I need to turn that around and make this the reason for getting my VA business up and running. Turn negative into a positive.
