In the last few months, I’ve spent a good deal of time writing and sending emails. In fact, I don’t ever remember having so many to compose and send off as I have lately. Any one else experiencing the same?
Some of the messages I've sent include contacting folks I've never met. Now, writing email messages to these individuals warrants some extra precaution, I think. Besides all the attention to grammar and spelling detail in composing, I want to be certain I have the appropriate tone and/or voice in the message, and that my message is clear. That means spending a bit more time reviewing each of them before hitting that send button.
When I came across this “email check list” it seemed quite timely! It’s a helpful list, I think, full of thoughtful reminders and good tips.
I’m working hard to apply #21, especially: “Could this email be shorter?” I do tend to get wordy at times. With all the online reading and excessive amounts of inbox messages, it is a good practice to keep the messages succinct and clear. I'm making a copy of this check list and keeping it handy!
Any of these hit the mark for you?
