I’m sure you’ve gleaned from my posts that I walk or bike daily. I find biking to a destination works well for me—meeting Jeff biking home from work, pedaling over to pick up a library book, or drop off a movie at Blockbuster. When I walk though, I try and vary my route around my neighborhood and even the time of day.
One of my jaunts takes me past a small row of business offices featuring one flamingoed door. The bird
alone gives me pause because Flamingos are not native to Florida even though they have become quite an attraction. The name on this business door is made up of two last names and offers no further clue to the businesses’ service or product. Something pink maybe? Here’s the clincher though—their tag line is, “Us…Striving To Be Them”. My first thought is who are they referring to? Followed by an instant cry of why!?
Does the small computer guy strive to be Microsoft? Does the local hamburger joint dream of becoming McDonalds? Maybe business owners do if they have a worthy role model but I am still baffled. Why not strive to be original, unique, and authentic?
So, dear reader, if you do indeed strive, what do you strive for?

I would never strive to be like someone else. My aspirations are much higher. :) Actually, that makes it sound as if I strive to be better than someone else, and that's not true either.
I simply strive to give and be the best that I can. No comparisons, no competition. Just me and what I can offer.

"Just" you, eh? Those of us who know and love you would never use that word to describe you! Excellent response, thanks for sharing!

Do I hear "New Friend Opportunity"? That tagline is a big ole' "Come on in and ask me who we are" if ever there was one. Can't wait to hear what they say. :)

I happen to be one of the partners behind that door. It's quite possible that I've even seen you walk by.
